Sinclair in frame for Eagles debut

YOUNG ruckman Callum Sinclair looks set to make his AFL debut after Scott Lycett was dropped from West Coast's squad to take on Hawthorn this weekend.

Lycett joined Mark LeCras (arm) and Eric Mackenzie (hamstring) as players to make way following the Eagles' Round 1 derby loss to Fremantle a fortnight ago.

Lycett had little impact against the Dockers in just his fourth AFL game, gathering three possessions and registering nine hitouts.

Sinclair was one of six players to be added to an extended West Coast squad for the Hawks clash, along with experienced defender Sam Butler, Jacob Brennan, Mitch Brown, Bradd Dalziell and Blayne Wilson.

Brown looms as a like-for-like swap with Mackenzie and is expected to get the job defending Lance Franklin, while Butler will also be in the frame after starring for WAFL club Perth last weekend.

Sinclair performed strongly for Subiaco in front of Eagles coach John Worsfold last Friday and is in line to claim the back-up ruck spot behind Dean Cox in what would be his AFL debut against the Hawks.

The 23-year-old was taken with pick 12 at last year's rookie draft before being promoted to the senior list this week.

"If you're going to get drafted at 23 years old, it would be pretty hard to find a second chance, so this might be the only chance I've got," Sinclair told The Sunday Times last week.

"My aim is to grab it with both hands and dedicate myself to it 110 per cent."

Hawthorn has added skipper Luke Hodge to its extended squad for Sunday's game, along with Jonathon Simpkin and former Eagle Matt Spangher.

Both squads will be trimmed from 25 to 22 tomorrow.
