ADELAIDE showed its supreme confidence in the fitness of ruckman Sam Jacobs by playing back-up Shaun McKernan in the SANFL on Saturday.

There had been concern over whether Jacobs would recover from a blow to the hip against Gold Coast last weekend but he trained freely on Saturday and is certain to start against Fremantle on Sunday.

The Crows have taken two emergencies on the trip West - midfielder Cameron Ellis-Yolmen and defender Luke Thompson - but expect to remain unchanged.

McKernan's absence from the travelling party also suggests Taylor Walker is ready to back up after his five goal haul against the Suns.

Walker copped a corkie in his calf but has recovered well.

Crows coach Brenton Sanderson says the club's medical staff will continue to monitor Walker closely in his first season back from a long-term knee injury - particularly given the number of six-day breaks Adelaide has in the back half of the season.

Fremantle are confident that Nathan Fyfe will be fit to play against the Crows despite being on crutches after their win over the Bulldogs.

"We have got some bands of six-day breaks coming up so he, like every player, will just analyse their wellness log, we have to be smart with all of our players but certainly Tex," Sanderson said.

"Some high intensity games and six-day breaks we'll be a little bit cautious with some guys and he probably falls into that category."

Adelaide did some last-minute fine tuning on their stoppage structure at Saturday's session at AAMI Stadium as it prepares to counteract the Dockers' strong midfield.

"They're actually trying to do what we're trying to do," Sanderson told his players.

"It's going to be great."

Jared Petrenko watched training in a moon boot as he begins to rehabilitate a shin injury.

The small forward is expected to spend four to six weeks on an injury list which saw ruckman Angus Graham and young defender Sam Siggins added to it this week.
