Two hits by Hawthorn captain Luke Hodge will see him squarely in the AFL match review panel's sights
LUKE Hodge has cleared his name after beating a rough conduct charge at the AFL tribunal.
The Hawthorn captain today opted to contest his rough conduct charge at the AFL tribunal, risking his appearance in Friday night's clash with West Coast.
Hodge was charged after a high bump on Carlton defender Lachie Henderson.
The minor grading of the offence, which was ruled negligent conduct of low impact, meant Hodge could have avoided suspension by pleading guilty and accepting a reprimand.
However, rather than carry 93.75 demerit points by pleading guilty, Hodge took the case to the AFL tribunal.
He risked a one-match ban if found guilty.
Hodge successfully argued he was trying to avoid teammate Jarryd Roughead when he ran into Henderson at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.
Hodge avoided a ban for another contentious bump in the same match which left Carlton skipper Marc Murphy with a fractured cheekbone.
