CARLTON ruckman Matthew Kreuzer's time sidelined with a thumb fracture will be only half as long as first thought.
Kreuzer was initially forecast to miss six to eight games after sustaining the break during Saturday night's loss to Geelong.
But after successful surgery, the Blues now expect him to miss just three or four matches.
Kreuzer has had a plate inserted into the thumb, which Carlton football manager Andrew McKay had stabilised the bone very well.
The Blues expect talented forwards Jarrad Waite (calf) and Eddie Betts (jaw) to miss another game or two.
They've also been joined by Marcus Davies (hamstring) on the injury list, with a slight hamstring strain to keep him out for one or two matches.
Draftee Nick Graham (knee) has been placed on the long-term injury list, freeing the club to elevate another rookie, although they will not do so immediately.
