HAWTHORN has joined the 'Harlem Shake' craze producing a video clip set to go viral on the internet.
Hawks stars Lance Franklin, Luke Hodge and Jordan Lewis were among those to call on their Twitter fans to watch the 30-second dance clip this afternoon.
The video, featuring what appears to be a number of Hawthorn players in fancy dress, was filmed in the weights room at Waverley Park.
It begins with six players including Michael Osborne working out in the gym under the watchful eye of a person dressed in a chicken suit.
All hell breaks loose at the 15-second mark when the gym fills with people performing a wild dance routine.
Among those dancing is someone in a penguin suit, a boxing cyclist, a surfer paddling on a board perched atop a wobbly frame, a player upended in a rubbish bin and players in traditional Aboriginal dress.
A group of teenagers in Queensland have been credited with sparking the social media sensation filming themselves dancing to American DJ Baauer's Harlem Shake song at a Sunshine Coast skate park recently.
But Hawthorn is not alone in professional sporting ranks to put their dance moves on display to the world.
Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks recorded a 'Harlem Shake' for Spring Training recently.
As did NBA powerhouse Orlando Magic, who had team mascot, 'Stuff the Magic Drago' lead a shake at Amway Arena.
But the internet stunt has cost a New York high school team its spot in the finals after players stripped off in their rendition of the viral dance routine.
The Hawks' clip has received more than 300 views within one hour of being uploaded to YouTube.
